Customer-Led Growth Starts With Reality

Build a growth direction around customer behaviour, a clear offer and operating capacity instead of assumptions about another channel.

Understand why the customer is there

Before discussing another acquisition channel, I want to understand why a person chooses the offer and what they expect from it. Look at the language they use, the task they are trying to complete and the point where the product becomes useful to them.

Use current conversations and examples to challenge the story the business tells about itself. Which questions keep appearing? Where do expectations differ from the actual offer? These are starting points for investigation, not proof that one campaign or feature will produce growth.

Connect the promise to the experience

An offer can sound clear on a landing page while the experience behind it remains difficult. Follow the path from the message to the product and the support around it. Check whether the same problem, audience and scope remain recognisable throughout that path.

I want the growth discussion to include the operating team. What can the business deliver consistently? Which questions need a clearer explanation? A useful strategy considers those constraints alongside the message, rather than asking marketing to compensate for an unresolved product or process issue.

Choose one useful learning loop

Select a specific question and a change that can help you examine it. You might clarify an offer, improve a product step or review a support handoff. Agree which evidence you will inspect and who will decide whether to keep, refine or stop the change.

This keeps the direction connected to customer reality without treating every observation as a universal rule. Growth remains uncertain. The practical responsibility is to understand the work, make a considered next move and review what the business learns from it.
